  • What states does SFM operate in?

While SFM operates all over the Midwest, a majority of our business lies in IL, IN, IA, WI, MN, OH, KY, TN, MO and MI.

  • Where are your agents located?

SFM has agents all over the Midwest. To see more information about our agents, visit our Staff Page.

  • How do I get more information on key crop insurance deadlines?

  • Does SFM only provide crop insurance?

Outside of row crops, SFM also provides insurance for Pasture, Rangeland, and Forage (PRF), livestock (LRP & LGM), and dairy (DRP). In addition to crop insurance, SFM also provides grain marketing services and offers commodity brokerage through our partner company, Strategic Farm Futures.

  • What is included in your grain marketing program?

Each grain marketing program looks different as SFM collaborates with each producer to develop a program specific to their needs. But an example of grain marketing services that we offer include on-call marketing counsel, contract expertise, sales organization, storage planning, communication with commercial buyers, in-depth market text alerts, and growing season conference call access.

  • What can I expect when attending an SFM seminar?

Our winter seminars are a great opportunity to get more information on new crop insurance products and key strategies! Each seminar includes a market update portion and a crop insurance update portion and typically includes a meal. Take a look at our upcoming events here!

  • What perils does crop insurance protect against?

Although it depends on the type of product you choose, multi-peril insurance products protect against yield loss and/or price loss. However, there are also several additional private products. For instance, Crop Hail insurance also protects against hail, field fires, vandalism, in-transit losses, and damage to stored grain with additional endorsements to cover wind losses, extra harvest expenses, green snap, and replant losses. If you have questions about a specific type of loss, please give us a call at (217) 356-0046 to get more information.

  • Do you also offer Commodity Brokerage services?

Yes, we offer commodity brokerage services through our partner company, Strategic Farm Futures. If you would like to learn more, please visit their site or give them a call at (217) 729-7477.
